Attention: CLAM does not service Criminal Law.
Our Catholic Legal Assistance Ministry (CLAM) serves clients at 150% of the Federal Poverty Level or less. Contact us for more information.
CLAM attorneys provide legal representation for low income clients in every aspect of family law. We prioritize representation for parents and children who are victims of domestic abuse or violence, or where there is a need to advocate for the best interests of a child. We offer assistance for clients seeking help with establishing child and spousal support, child custody, and advocate for fair and equitable distribution of property. We petition for guardianships of a minor or incapacitated adult. When appropriate, we also educate clients on alternatives to litigation, such as mediation and counseling.
Our Catholic Immigration Law Project attorneys offer legal aid to migrants facing challenges in immigration cases such as family-based petitions, asylum, relative petitions, naturalization, adjustment of status, employment authorization, violence against women, special immigrant juveniles, T and U visas for victims of crime and/or human trafficking, deferred action, temporary protected status, and representation for relief while in removal proceedings. We also provide outreach and Know Your Rights programs throughout the area to help educate immigrant communities about current issues.
Our Veterans Advocacy Project (VAP) provides legal representation to veterans living in the St. Louis region. Through this project, we provide legal aid to low-income and homeless veterans. If you qualify for our services, VAP can provide assistance in the following areas:
Municipal and Traffic: Legal aid for past and present legal issues, traffic warrants, tickets, fines and costs, and help to reinstate your driving privileges.
Family Law: We help you navigate difficult situations like divorce, child custody, child support, modifications, and guardianships.
Landlord-Tenant: We provide legal aid for those facing eviction, rent, possession, unlawful detainer, and illegal lock-outs to help maintain or find safe and affordable housing.
